Limit iStatus Android App Notifications

If a user would like to limit the times of day the iStatus Android app sends them notifications, the current methodology is to disable "Priority" for app notifications and configure "Interruptions" (Android 5.1) or "Do not disturb" (Android 6.0+). This will allow a user to prevent notifications during certain regularly-scheduled time frames (10pm to 7am, for example).

Step 1: Configure iStatus Android App

Navigate to settings (gear icon), then tap "Sound & Notification", then tap "App Notifications", and lastly tap "iStatus."

On Android 5.1 users will see two options, on 6.0+ users will see three options:

  • Block – Never show notifications from this app
  • Priority – Show notifications at the top of the list and keep them coming when the device is set to priority interruptions only.
  • Allow Peeking – Let this app emphasize certain notifications by sliding them briefly into view on the current screen. (Android 6.0+ only)

Ensure that "Priority" is turned off so that iStatus notifications are not shown during the time frames specified in step two.

Step 2: Android 5.1

Navigate to settings (gear icon), then tap "Sound & Notification", then tap "Interruptions", then scroll down to "Downtime."

Users can proceed to configure the device with downtime settings to only send notifications during certain regularly scheduled time frames (10pm to 7am, for example).

Step 2: Android 6.0+

Navigate to settings (gear icon), then tap "Sound & Notification", then tap "Do not disturb." Under “Priority only allows” users can select what (if any) notifications can bypass their do not disturb mode. Under “Automatic Rules” users can configure Do not disturb to turn itself on during certain regularly scheduled time frames (10pm to 7am, for example).
